ZUGERLAND
I have always lived in Zug, ever since coming to Switzerland; it is my home, I am happy here. It creates an quiet micro-climate with little wind, the lake remains polished and the mists hug the shores. Were it music, it would be a soft piano piece. There is only one river that both feeds and draws from the lake, adding to the stillness, the Lorze. North of the lake the two larger towns of Zug and Cham bookend fields of summer grasses and reeds. South of the lake lies the Rigi , the blue queen of the mountains; made more famous by J.M.W. Turner, it remains a permanent triangular horizon.
CHAM VILLETTE SUNRISE
The Zugersee, is its usual mirror, reflecting the blue hour.
I am a believer that sunrises are more interesting than sunsets, the changing light from from blue to gold, the cold of the night creating mists from warm grounds or water. The north shore of the Zugersee see the sunrise slightly later than other locations as the Zugerberg shields it from the first rays. This extends the blue hour and can prolong the transition to gold. COVID is hindering getting to more 'exotic' locations, but still there is always something great to photograph even very close to home. The morning was cold, the ground frosty, mist built after a warmer previous day. I was alone with elderly dog walkers, my fingers freezing on my metal camera, but the light amazing, as it lit-up the slowly rising mists. Running from one spot to another to try and capture the first rays, pleased with the result it was time to warm my fingers around coffee cup.
The blue hour turns to the golden hour.

MIST and REEDS CHAM
Sun breaks through dense mists Zugersee north-shore
Reeds are the icon feature of the Zugersee north-shore, they are the fringe which hides the shore and its wildlife. The spines' slenderness ratio, belies their strength, as they sway pivoting from the water's surface. Once a common roofing material, their usage is now wholly habitat. They form stark silhouettes against the southern sun, soft mists, or mirror-lake Zugersee.
Man's attempt to reinforce the shoreline, verse nature's
The persistent fog of the Zugersee north-shore
Delicate stems sway in very little breeze
